Five Days In-Person Classes Every Week Starting November 

The Department of Education (DepEd) declared in an order that the start of the academic year will be August 22 of elementary and secondary schools as well as community learning centers (CLCs).



DepEd Order No. 34 states that 203 days of instruction would be held in schools. The learner's edcuational background and prior knowledge will determine the length of the classes under the Alternative Learning System.


The directive, which was also shared on the department's FB page, stated that "the school year 2022-2023 shall officially commence on Monday, August 22, 2022 and shall expire on July 7, 2023".


The government stated that the enrollment period will run from July 25 through to August 22 in the order's implementing guidelines, adding that it will be producing a different set of guidelines for this.


By November, DepEd expects that all public and private schools will be offering five days per week per week.

After that date, no school will be permitted to implement purely distance learning or blended learning, with the exception of those that are implementing Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM). “Starting November 2, 2022, all public and private schools shall have transitioned to five days of in-person classes,” according to the order’s guidelines.


DepEd understood that students would experience stress and difficulties as a result of the switch to in-person classes.


DepEd Order No. 34 is among the first orders signed by Vice President Sara Duterte, our new DepEd Secretary.
