The Lawmaker is seeking a P759.4-million budget for 2022 to cover the cost of the allowance of teachers from public elementary and secondary schools. Representatives Paolo Duterte and Eric Yap file a bill that seeks to provide a monthly teaching supplies allowance for public school teachers. P2,000 financial assistance for teachers who will buy teaching materials and supplies such as chalk, board markers, stapler, paper clips, colored pens and pencils, notebook or sketchpad, scissors, and even tissue. The proposed financial assistance is also called Teacher’s Monthly Allowance (TMA). According to DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla,"About 80 percent of teachers buy their own teaching supplies." It's important that teachers are supported with the materials they will use to teach their students.
Adding to these rigors are expenses of the teaching supplies that they frequently shell out from their personal pockets. This bill seeks to institutionalize the provision of teaching supplies allowance amounting to Two Thousand Pesos (P2,000.00) per teacher every month within the school year, thereby easing the financial burden of the teachers. This proposed measure also takes cognizance of the rising prices of basic commodities, including teaching supplies and the like.

It's important that teachers are supported with the materials they will use to teach their students. Teachers should be able to buy their own supplies, but in this case, they can't because the budget does not allow for it. In the same vein, teachers aren't paid enough so that they can afford these things on their own.
Therefore, we propose a monthly financial assistance for teachers who will buy teaching materials and supplies such as chalk, board markers, stapler or paper clips; colored pens and pencils; notebook or sketchpad; scissors/erasers; tissue paper (for art projects) etc.. This will help them provide these necessary items for their classrooms without breaking the bank at their expense
The proposed financial assistance is also called Teacher’s Monthly Allowance (TMA). TMA is a monthly allowance for teachers who will buy their own teaching supplies, such as paper and pens.
TMA is a way to support teachers in their work, which helps them create a better working environment for students.
According to DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla, about 80 percent of teachers buy their own teaching supplies.
The Teachers' Welfare Fund (TWF) is the government's mechanism for providing financial assistance to teachers and other school personnel who have been on leave due to illness or personal reasons. In 2015, it provided P8 million in cash grants to these individuals as well as free medical services, medicines and other essential items. The TWF has also been used by DepEd as an incentive program so that teachers will remain in service even if they earn lower salaries than what they would normally receive from private schools or private tutoring firms where they may be more skilled academically
It's important that teachers are supported with the materials they will use to teach their students. Teachers should be given the supplies they need to do their jobs, and it is also important that they get support in order to teach effectively.
The TMA will be a new program that aims to address the low cost of supplies for teachers, especially those who have to buy their own items. This will help them save money while giving them a chance to spend more time with their students and not worry about buying expensive materials needed in order to
