Early registration for SY 2023-2024 in public schools starts on May 10
The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the official start of Early Registration for select grade levels in public schools for the upcoming school year (SY) 2023-2024. As per the announcement, Early Registration started on Wednesday, May 10, and is exclusively for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners.
DepEd encourages the conduct of Early Registration through face-to-face transactions with the schools. However, alternative means of collecting early registration forms are also allowed.
The purpose of Early Registration is to assist DepEd in making the necessary preparations and adjustments of plans for the incoming school year. DepEd encourages parents and guardians to prioritize Early Registration to ensure that their children will be included in the official list of learners and avoid any inconvenience during the opening of classes.
DepEd reminded all public elementary and secondary schools to use the Early Registration facility in the Learner Information System (LIS) to update or encode the necessary information for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners using the school head or school administrator account. The Basic Education Enrollment Form, either in print or electronic copies, must also be used to ensure the proper capture of essential data for registration.
Aside from the specified grade levels, schools may also encode the prospective enrollees for other grade levels based on the previous school enrollment. This will provide a clear picture of the expected enrollees for the next enrollment.
The strict implementation of the kindergarten cut-off age is also emphasized. Public and private schools are instructed to conduct advocacy campaigns to encourage out of school children and parents or guardians of prospective learners to participate in Early Registration. This can be done by posting relevant materials and making announcements on local media platforms.
DepEd clarified that all other provisions in the previous issuance, DO 03, s. 2018, remain valid and effective unless otherwise amended by other issuances.
